Hey guys so in my last article I mentioned that I would be taking the list from my last article to another league cup and that league cup went pretty well so I'm bringing you a follow up article. I will post the list but I am not going to go into detail about it since I did so in my last article. If you want to know why I made some of the wacky card choices I did, check out that article which you can find on the Quick Cards Facebook page.

The List

Now without further ado let's get right into the results. This was only a 29 person cup.

Matches

Round 1 VS Abel Yallew w/Tapu Bulu-GX/Vikavolt

So first round I'm playing against a teammate and I'm disappointed but not too worried as I know the matchup pretty good for me. He opens Tapu Bulu-GX with a Grubbin on the bench and I start with Tapu Lele-GX in the active, we both set up a little slow with him having to waste a Professor Kukui early on and me getting out a Gardevoir-GX, Sylveon-GX, and Octillery, but no other Ralts or Kirlia to back up my Gardevoir. I take the first knockout by Playing Guzma on a benched Tapu Bulu-GX and I take the knockout with Gardevoir. He then manages to come right back with a Professor Kukui and a Choice Band to knock out my only attacker in play. I'm forced to promote Sylveon-GX and remove his Choice Band with a Field Blower then Magical Ribbon after putting down a Ralts, hoping to buy a turn. He plays Skyla for the Choice Band however and takes the knockout on my Sylveon-GX, I promote the Ralts and evolve up into Gardevoir-GX, play an N and hit him for 90. He plays professor Sycamore and gets the Choice band to hit me for 210 and the Energy Recycler to keep him going. On the following turn I play Acerola into another Gardevoir-GX. Most of the end game is pretty foggy but after trading hits for a bit he goes down to one Prize Card and I N him and draw myself back up to five with Game in Hand for the next turn. However he manages to hit the Tapu Lele-GX of the N to 1 for his 3rd Guzma for the game. 0-1

Round 2 VS Jay Lesage w/Gardevoir-GX/Sylveon-GX

Going into this match was a bit intimidating because Jay is such a well renowned player. However, I'm pretty confident in my skill and knowledge of the mirror plus I knew my list was more consistent than most so I was excited to play a good game. Unfortunately... that's not what I got, instead Jay never played a single Ralts or Fairy Energy and instead came at me with Eevee and Tapu Lele-GX this game so I won pretty quickly. I was disappointed in the missed opportunity I had to play a full game with a world class player but I was glad I wasn't out of the running for Top 8. 1-1

Round 3 VS Jaime Vargas w/Vikavolt/Tapu Bulu-GX

My opponent and I both set up pretty well but he was playing Zoroark-GX instead of Octillery or Oranguru and Fighting Fury Belts instead of Choice Bands and Professor Kukui. Both choices made the matchup much better for me and I steamrolled him rather quickly. 2-1

Round 4 VS Christopher Venier w/Zoroark-GX/Lycanroc-GX 3-1

This was another pretty quick game, I set up really well and he missed what he needed to apply pressure so I was able to just take knockout after knockout again.

Shoutout to Chris for not taking the penalty when I accidentally played Gladion after the Professor Sycamore. Not sure what the penalty would've been but would've beat myself up for sure if that slip up cost me the game. Great guy and glad we got to play out a fair and fun game.

Round 5 VS Nolan Randall w/Greninja BREAK

ID 3-1-1

Top 8 VS Nolan Randall w/Greninja BREAK

In the first game I set up well and Nolan bricked really hard, not getting set up until a few turns late. However, I was forced to waste my Acerola and Parallel City early and I whiffed energy and draw support for the first couple of turns. Once both of us were drawing okay the negative interaction Gardevoir decks have against Greninja kicked in and he was able to knockout my attackers.

In game two he set up as planned and I missed everything I needed to get knockouts throughout the game. He steamrolled my attackers for the most part all though one point at the game he put me in a spot where I would've been able to leave him with no Greninja BREAK in play if I hit the Double Colorless Energy off an N to three but I missed it again and he took his last few prizes. 3-2-1

Changes in Hindsight

-1 Mr. Mime -1 Gladion +1 Gallade +1 Sylveon-GX

Quite on the contrary to my last cup I didn't play Gladion or Mr. Mime even once so if I were to go to a cup right now I'd probably cut both and just re thicken my Gallade and Sylveon-GX lines.
