Blasting Away with Registeel Genesect

What's up guys? I'm back with a brand new deck that I think might have a chance in this format. It's Registeel with Genesect-EX and Zoroark-GX. Yes I know that at first glance this deck sounds really bad but I'm here to tell you that assumption is wrong. This deck has a lot of even and favorable match ups in this meta game and it requires a skilled pilot to play correctly. Similar decks like Silvally/Metal and Registeel Celesteela had varying success at the European Internationals and I was very interested in making a metal variant work. Without further ado let's drive into the deck, pun intended.
The List

The list may seem strange but it actually works. Your goal early game is to Turbo Arm with Registeel to soften up your opponents' Pokemon while accelerating energy to the bench. Getting the energy into the discard should not be too hard with Professor Sycamore, Ultra Ball, and Zoroark-GX's trade. Turbo Arm along with Max Elixir will have your bench filled with energy in no time. After you have a few attackers set up on the bench, you can start sweeping with Genesect-EX and Celesteela-GX while having Cobalion as a late game threat. This deck works a lot like Volcanion but with more draw power from Zoroark-GX and a better Gardevoir-GX match up since you can hit it for weakness. If you're having trouble with Gallade or Buzzwole-GX you can also add one Mew from Fates Collide.
Genesect-EX is the heart and soul of the deck because you can hit hard with Rapid Blaster and build it back up with Registeel. Also its ability Drive Change allows you to save different tools for different points in the game. Celesteela-GX is included in the deck because it has one of the best GX attacks for metal type attackers and it has a different weakness than most of your other attackers. Dhelmise in this deck is great because it allows Registeel to one hit knockout a fairy type Kirlia and it allows Celesteela-GX do hit for 190 with its GX attack against things like Turtonator GX. Necrozma-GX is the one wild card in the deck and some cards like Mew may deserve the spot more but its GX attack allows for you to finish off multiple Pokemon at once after dealing a good amount of chip damage. If you are expecting a lot of Mr. Mime however I would recommend dropping Necrozma for a Mew. Cobalion is one of the best late game attackers, especially when your resources are depleted.

Matchups
Gardevoir-GX
Unfortunately this match up isn't as much of an auto-win as you might expect. Early game you need to apply a lot of pressure with Turbo Arm by hopefully taking knockouts on fairy type Ralts and Kirlia. You also need to be wary of where you distribute your energy and when to make Gardevoir work for its one hit knockouts. Genesect is definitely the attacker you want to be using since you can discard all of your energy to knockout Gallade and then you have 0 energy boosting Gardevoir's attack. You also need to be careful with Zoroark-GX since it can be liable to Gallade.
Zoroark-GX/Golisopod-GX
This match up is difficult since they can heal away two shots. Your goal is to do chip damage with Registeel then finish them off with Genesect-EX and Celesteela-GX.
Decidueye-GX/Zoroark-GX
This is another tricky matchup since they have one shot potential against you. You should try to set up one Genesect-EX quickly to knockout their Rowlets and Dartrix. Then you have to be taking one shots on Zoroark-GX otherwise you'll likely be disappointed by an opponent's Max Potion. Also be hesitant when filling your bench or a Breakthrough Zoroark could ruin your day.
Volcanion
Avoid using Genesect-EX in this matchup if you can and go down the route of attacking with Zoroark-GX and some of your tech Pokemon.
Buzzwole-GX/Lycanroc-GX/Octillery
Avoiding relying on Zoroark in this matchup as it's weak to Buzzwole and Lycanroc. Utilize Mew to take easy KO's on Buzzwole and be wary of Lycanroc since it can use Dangerous Rogue-GX to take an easy one hit knockout on your Pokemon.
Conclusion
Overall this deck can be really fun to play as long as you know what you're doing and it has a chance to be a sleeper in the format. If you have some experience playing Volcanion or Darkrai then I would recommend giving this deck a shot, I think you'll find it a blast. Anyways, thanks for reading and happy testing!
